Rob Brighouse appointed as a non-executive director to Luton Rising Board

Luton Rising is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Brighouse as a new independent non-executive director on its Board.

Mr Brighouse is both a chartered director and chartered civil engineer with over 30 years of international railway operations, project delivery and cross-sector experience gained in three different countries.

From 2017 until 2021 Mr Brighouse was Founding Chair of the East West Railway Company. With the Network Rail Board he has been Senior Independent Director since 2016, and he was an inaugural member of its Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee.

Mr Brighouse is a former Managing Director of Chiltern Railways and Deputy Managing Director of London Overground Operations Ltd. He is also currently Chairman of the New Homes Quality Board.

Luton Rising is the Luton Council company that owns London Luton Airport and associated assets for community benefit, and is appointing three non-executive directors after deciding to strengthen its Board membership.

The arrival of Mr Brighouse follows the recent appointment of Paul Kehoe CBE as independent Board Chair, and further supports the company’s work to deliver long-term sustainable growth of the airport and the significant social impact and employment benefits provided for local and neighbouring communities.

Mr Kehoe said: “I am delighted to welcome Rob to Luton Rising. He brings with him a wealth of experience working with government and driving economic regeneration through the development of sustainable railway infrastructure.

“This will be invaluable as we seek to maximise the positive impact of our range of community assets including the Luton DART.”
