These are the key principles:
Our five sustainability objectives creating community value
-
1
Protect and enhance the natural environment
Secure a positive impact for stakeholders by managing the air quality levels, resources and waste management, water quality and noise and vibrations for the local community, and enhancing the local biodiversity.
-
2
Deliver climate resilience and business continuity
Collaborate with the airport operator, London Luton Airport Operations Limited (LLAOL) and relevant stakeholders to make sure appropriate measures are implemented to future-proof existing assets as well as those in development, thereby enhancing business continuity capability, preserving value for customers and stakeholders.
-
3
Lead the transition to Carbon Net Zero
Support Luton Council in achieving its carbon target by 2040 by bringing our construction and operation activities, where we have direct control, to Net Zero Carbon by 2040; and aspiring to carbon neutrality for surface access and aviation emissions by 2050 by collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
-
4
Become a national hub for green technology, finance and innovation
Build on existing partnerships, location within the Oxford-Cambridge Arc growth corridor and England’s Economic Heartland, and our unique position as a community airport, becoming a catalyst for sustainable development and enhancing the economic attractiveness of Luton and its surrounds.
-
5
A place to thrive
Secure a positive impact for stakeholders by enhancing the health and wellbeing of the local communities, fostering diversity and inclusion across our activities and laying the foundations for decades of economic growth, creating jobs and enabling the community to thrive.
